The Miami Beach Commission votes Wednesday to cancel a long-planned "Priority 1" bike path โ buried in the consent agenda with zero public input. Help protect Miami Beach's bicycle master plan.
WHAT'S AT STAKE
An off-street path, away from traffic โ safe for people of all ages and abilities. It connects existing bike lanes along Meridian Ave to the south with Prairie Ave to the north, closing a 0.6-mile gap in Miami Beach's network.
The highest tier in the city's own Bicycle-Pedestrian Master Plan. The path closes a 0.6-mile gap โ roughly 1,000 riders per day already use this corridor.
Competitively awarded state funding from FDOT, supported by the Miami-Dade TPO. Cancellation forfeits those grant dollars permanently โ and undermines the city's credibility in future grant competitions.
