Despite opposition from some business owners and a brief <a href=\"https:\/\/betterstreetsmb.com\/bsmb\/breaking-miami-dade-county-orders-immediate-reopening-of-ocean-drive-promenade-to-vehicles\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"2257\">challenge<\/a> from Miami-Dade County in October 2023, the promenade has persisted, and along with other city commission-approved changes, has helped transform the iconic street into a safe and vibrant area welcoming to tourists and locals alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2022, the entertainment district&#8217;s Ocean Drive, from 5th Street north to 14th Place, has featured a two-way protected bicycle lane along its eastern edge, replacing what was previously a northbound vehicle lane and parking. This balanced approach to street design \u2013 incorporating a protected bike lane while maintaining slow-speed vehicle access \u2013 has proven to be a successful model for the historic neighborhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/betterstreetsmb.com\/bsmb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/ocean-drive-today-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2544\" srcset=\"https:\/\/betterstreetsmb.com\/bsmb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/ocean-drive-today-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/betterstreetsmb.com\/bsmb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/ocean-drive-today-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/betterstreetsmb.com\/bsmb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/ocean-drive-today-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/betterstreetsmb.com\/bsmb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/ocean-drive-today.jpg 1422w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The November 2024 vote received responses from 252 property owners, with 173 in favor of the current configuration.
